Opinel knife N°6 stainless steel blade: the stainless steel of the Opinel blades is an optimised grade to guarantee both high corrosion resistance and high mechanical performance. The blade offers excellent sharpness and abrasion resistance (wear) that allows it to face regular contact with hard materials, such as ceramics, before requiring re-sharpening. Stainless steel has the advantage of not requiring any special maintenance under ordinary use conditions.The Blade: The traditional blade of the Opinel is called the Yatagan blade. Its shape is inspired by a Turkish sword, with a raised tip. The blade is ground according to an exclusive curved profile that guarantees the robustness of the blade and allows for high-performance re-sharpening. This knife is ideal for outdoor and sports activities, the N°06 is also practical and effective for everyday crafts (small DIY and sewing).9.5 cm handle: Beech is the most used wood for the manufacture of Opinel handles. From French farms, it is hard, resistant and easy to work with. With a homogeneous appearance, its light color varies from yellow to pink. It is recognizable by the presence of many small dark features. The handle is varnished to be better protected against moisture and dirt.Safety ring: Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring equips all closing knives from N°06. Cut from stainless steel, the Virobloc consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part.
